Despite a change in date and location, the 2020 Erie County Envirothon was able to be held this year.
Traditionally the high school and middle school environmental competition takes place at Headwaters Park in early May.
However, due to the current pandemic, the high school event was altered to be held online May 15.
Three school districts, General McLane, North East and Harborcreek school districts were able to have their teams compete.
With two weeks’ notice, the teams once again dove into the material to be covered at the event and tested the best methods available for them to virtually meet while completing the online tests.
This year, General McLane once again prevailed for the first-place spot, with their team of seniors able to graduate with three years of first place wins under their belt.
The two North East teams took a very close second and third place, with the third-place sophomore team scoring the only perfect 100 on one of their exams, including both tie breakers. Congratulations to all of the participants; we look forward to a return to Headwaters Park for the event in 2021.
Good luck to all of our graduating seniors!
