Last Minute Bits
Due to the Christmas holiday, there will be an early deadline for the Dec. 27 edition of the North East News-Journal. All submissions must be sent in by noon on Friday, Dec. 20
Pop Up Shop
Tamara’s Pop Up Art Store, 22 S. Lake St., will be open this holiday season. The store’s hours will be Wednesday from noon to 6 p.m., Thursday to Saturday from 1 to 8 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.
Tax Collector Hours
North East Township Tax Collector Penny Luke’s end of December hours are as follows: Dec. 23 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Dec. 24 from 9 a.m. to noon, Dec. 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Dec. 31 from 9 a.m. to noon. The office will be closed Dec. 25 through Dec. 29. After Dec. 15, no personal checks will be accepted. All payments must be certified funds: cash, cashier’s check or money order. Holiday Recycle Pickup
Please note the following recycling change for the holiday season. If your recycling pick up is normally Wednesday, the fourth week of December, recycling will be picked up Thursday, Dec. 26. If your recycling pick up is normally Wednesday, the first week of January, recycling will be picked up Thursday, Jan. 2. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours!
This Sunday, Dec. 22, State Line's Christmas Cantata will be performed during 10 a.m. worship with a Birthday Party for Jesus following. Christmas Eve at Immanuel UMC will be at 7 p.m. Christmas Eve at State Line UMC will be at 9 p.m.
Miller Mistletoe Mile
The Skunk and Goat Tavern is proud to bring back the Miller Mistletoe Mile on Dec. 22! This one-mile race around downtown North East is the perfect way to spread holiday cheer throughout our beautiful town. This year, all proceeds from the race will go to The Door, a non-profit organization in North East. Registration will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the race begins at 6 p.m. Cost is $20 and includes a long-sleeve T-shirt. The North East chapter of AFS has a limited number of golf umbrellas left to sell. These golf umbrellas have maroon and white stripes and come with a gold NE logo. This is the last time the chapter will be selling them. Contact Sherry Elchynski at 881-6269 if you are interested in buying one before they are all gone.

4 NINE Thrift Hours
The 4 NINE Thrift Store will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25, and re-open Saturday, Jan. 4. The store’s hours are Monday and Wednesday from noon to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
4 NINE Wellness Classes
4 NINE Wellness Classes, held at 103 Clay St., will be suspended for the holidays. Yoga will be off on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Qigong classes will be off Dec. 24, Dec. 27 and resume on Dec. 31. Exercise classes will be off beginning Dec. 23 and resume on Jan. 6.
