Last Minute Bits

“Powerful Tools for Caregivers”
A new class series titled “Powerful Tools for Caregivers” begins Sept. 13 at Parkside North East, 2 Gibson St. Classes are from 1 to 2:30 p.m. for six weeks and are free and open to the public. For more information, or to register, contact Marie at 453-5072 or via email at mheberlein@lecomslc.org.
Fall Rec Soccer
Fall Rec Soccer sign-ups will be held on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to noon at the NEIE pool entrance. Cost is $15 per player and the season runs from Sept. 23 to Nov. 23.
Anniversary bash
During Penn Shore’s 50th Anniversary Bash on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 3 to 6 p.m., Project Love board members will be helping to pour wine. Guests are encouraged to bring a toy to donate to Project Love, a nonprofit which helps local families by giving Christmas toys and gifts to children birth to age 13 years. Project Love is in particular need of family board games. Those who donate a game or toy to Project Love during the event will receive tastings for free.
Free Outdoor Concert
Summer's Last Fiesta, a musical performance, will be held Sept. 15 at 4:30 p.m. in the courtyard of Luther Memorial Church, 225 W. 10th St., Erie. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Reception to follow in the church parlor.
Ragin Raisins Sign-ups
Ragin Raisins Wrestling Club sign-ups will be held Monday, Sept. 16, and Tuesday, Sept. 17, in Mercyhurst North East’s Wrestling Room from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Practice will start Monday, Oct. 28. For more information please email Jason Locke at raginraisinswrestling@hotmail.com.
"Summer on the Road"
County Council’s "Summer on the Road" meeting at Brevillier Village Education Room, 5416 E. Lake Road, will be held on Sept. 17. Doors will be open at 5:30 p.m. Election meeting will take place at 6:15 p.m., Council’s caucus meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m. and regular council meetings will begin at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
Swim lessons
Registration for fall swim lessons for kindergarten, first and second-grade students will be held on Sept. 18 and 19 from 5 to 6 p.m. at the NEIE pool entrance lobby. Classes begin Sept. 23 and runs through Oct. 4. For more information, email Kim at kdaughrity@nesd1.org.
Chicken BBQ
Boy Scout Troop 57 will host a Chicken BBQ Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the NEHS parking lot. Cost is $10 per meal and includes a half chicken, baked beans, macaroni salad and roll with butter.
Soup and Salad Luncheon
Park United Methodist Church will host a Soup and Salad Luncheon on Friday, Sept. 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The menu will include homemade vegetable beef soup, gelatin salad, bread, homemade dessert and beverages. Cost is $6 and takeout will be available.
Senior Expo
On Sept. 27, the Harborcreek Senior Expo will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Harborcreek Social Hall. Health care and social service providers will be on site.
Volunteers Needed
Move the Mountain Food Drive committee members are looking for new volunteers to help plan this year’s November food drive. If you have a few hours to spare, call Melissa Garfield at 814-217-7042 or Corey Hansen at 814-746-5143 for more information.
Purse & Cash Bingo
Brevillier’s Purse & Cash Bingo is scheduled for Oct. 5 at Harborcreek Social Hall, 7275 Buffalo Road, Call 899-8600 for tickets. $25 per ticket or $30 at the door. Proceeds benefit the van fundraiser and Haven Program at Brevillier Village.
Veterans Banner booklets
Banner booklets featuring this year’s 40 local Veterans are now at the McCord Memorial Library. All 40 banners for this year went up prior to the July 4th holiday, and are located in the park. Community members can read each veterans biography, their military service and how they chose to serve their country. Donations for the booklets are appreciated.

Line dancing! Monday nights at 7 p.m. at Fit 4 Life, located at 3155 Williams Road. Members free, nonmembers pay a drop-in fee of $5
