Marching Band's Car Wash
A car wash to benefit the North East Marching Band will be held on Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 43 S. Lake St. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go toward the band’s 2021-22 trip to Disney. There is no fee but donations will be accepted. Please attend and support this eight-time LMBA champion marching band!
The Harbor Creek Lady Huskies softball team is holding a car wash on Aug. 18 from noon to 5 p.m. at The Next Pitch, 6855 Buffalo Road. Pay by donation and come out to support the girls as they fundraise for a spring training
McCord Teens & Tweens
McCord’s Teens & Tweens program will meet on Aug. 20 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The theme is ‘Teen Science Club” and participants will be experimenting with ink.
Children's Story Times
McCord Memorial Library is getting ready for the new school year with “Back to School” themed Children’s Story Times. Preschoolers can attend story times on Aug. 20 and Aug. 21 from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. A story time for babies and toddlers will be held on Aug. 22 from 11 to 11:30 a.m.
North East Welch FCU invite everyone to a Community Day on Aug. 22 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guests are encouraged to come learn about the credit union difference. Rummage / Bake Sale
There will be a huge rummage sale and bake sale at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 30 Clinton St., on Friday, Aug. 23, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 24, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday will be Bag Day. There will be lots of useful household items, antique items, home décor, Christmas décor, clothes, jewelry, books, children’s items and much more. The bake sale will have many delicious treats.
Community Nursing Services of North East will hold its fourth annual Memorial Butterfly Release on Aug. 24 at 1 p.m. at Gibson Park. The event is free and open to the public. To request a butterfly, call 814-725-4300. The deadline to reserve one is Aug. 12. There is a limit of one per family.
The fourth annual Cruise-in by the Lake Shore Street Rod Association will be held on Aug. 24 from noon to 4 p.m. at the Grape Discovery Center, 8305 W. Main Road, Westfield. Dan Schall concert
South Ripley United Methodist Church, 10008 NE Sherman Road, will be hosting its annual Dan Schall concert on Aug. 24. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. this year with refreshments to follow. The concert will be held outside, weather permitting.
Hydrant flushing in North East Borough will take place Sunday, Aug. 25, and Monday, Aug. 26. In the township, hydrants will be flushed Sunday, Aug. 25, through Tuesday, Aug. 27.
