Apparently, according to the PA State Democratic Committee a “Free and Fair election” is one which only involves Republicans and Democrats. Imagine mandatory social distancing order from the Governor which literally prohibits the ability of opposition parties to circulate ballot access petitions being used by the same scoundrels to disenfranchise members of the Libertarian, Green, and Constitutional Parties of Pennsylvania (as well as their national candidates).
After requesting relief from the Governor and the Secretary of State and receiving no response, the Libertarian, Green, and Constitutional Parties of Pennsylvania have filed a lawsuit demanding relief from the signature requirements which are now impossible to obtain due to the governor’s order as well as necessary public health issues surrounding the pandemic.
The PA Democratic Party Attorney, Clifford B. Levine, filed a motion to intervene, absurdly suggesting that it’s not fair that the opposition parties would be granted relief since the Republicrats could and did obtained their signatures (a requirement they impose upon themselves in order to participate in the tax-funded primary and which was finished a month before the governor issued the lock-down order) and opposition parties legally can’t.
After he filed his motion to intervene, a member of the PA house Rep. Brian Sims, Democrat from Philadelphia, learned that there were infected lawmakers in the Harrisburg House Office, and spoke fervently about it on NBC, CNN, and other national news outlets.Sims said the state attorney general needs to investigate how the notification was handled and that any representative who knew about the infected lawmakers and didn’t inform colleagues needs to be investigated by the attorney general and prosecuted. He also called on Speaker of the House Mike Turzai to resign.
PADEMS cannot have it both ways. They want to use the health risks associated with Covid-19 to call out the Republicans for wanting to open the state too soon, yet they wish to stop other political parties whose campaigns have been stopped by the lockdown orders from seeking relief as if it is perfectly safe to circulate door to door.
