Sara Kim, owner of Lollie & Co. a women’s retail shop at the Colony Plaza in Erie has decided to open a second store in North East.
The grand opening was Thursday, Oct. 15, at the new location, 8 S. Lake St., in North East.
Originally a teacher and North East native, Kim has a passion to help others but after starting a family she knew she wanted to be her own boss.
“I was a teacher in what seems like a lifetime ago,” Kim reflected. “I loved teaching but when I had my son, I couldn’t imagine leaving him so I made the decision to stay at home. Fast forward two years and the welcoming of our daughter, I couldn’t shake this feeling to open my own business.”
With her own fashion forward yet comfortable sense of style, she found that Erie had very few options that fit within her style and budget.
“I knew Erie lacked any place that I felt was representative of me and my budget, but I wanted well-made clothes that complimented my lifestyle as a mom and were also affordable,” Kim said. “That’s when I knew what direction to go in and created Lollie which is a combination of my children’s names, Lillie + Ollie = Lollie.”
Kim handpicks all of the styles that make it into Lollie and keeps in mind what will be cute but practical for all moms.
“I personally keep track of any new styles that interest me and that I can’t find in Erie and make sure to have it in my store,” Kim added.
Lollie is a women’s clothing store designed to bring classic and comfortable styles at an affordable price point.
“If it feels good, we probably have it,” Kim said. “We pride ourselves on excellent customer service and making sure our customers leave with the perfect piece.”
The North East store will be slightly different from the flagship store as it will also offer baby items and some home accessories.
“I always wanted to have a shop in North East. I grew up here and have so many fond memories of a robust downtown district boasting many shops and eclectic destinations,” Kim reminisced. “The timing and space never seemed to jive in my plans, but after a few store closures and the sad sight of empty, dark storefronts, I knew this had to be the time. Ideally, I would not have opened during a pandemic, but I guess dreams and plans wait for no one or a perfect time. So here we are!”
As of now, Lollie & Co. does not carry men’s clothing but it may be in the future for the Erie location.
“The North East Lollie will not carry men’s clothing as we hope to honor a great relationship with LaRocca’s,” Kim said.
Lollie will be open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“We are always open to receiving resumes of well-qualified candidates with extensive retail experience,” Kim said. “I am excited to see new and familiar faces and want to thank everyone for the support we have received during this process.”
