The North East boys swim team added another hatch mark to the win column after a meet with General McLane on Feb. 11.
Since the meet was virtual, each team competed in their own pool and scores were merged later.
Sophomore Evan Kemp continued his win streak, taking first in the 200 Yard IM, the 100 butter-fly, and participating in the winning 200 yard medley (Kemp, Mason Currier, Grant Girts, Collin Lawry) and the 200 free relay (Girts, Skyler Thies-Green, Lawry, Kemp).
The boys team also took third place in the 200 medley (Michell Havens, Thies-Green, Jackson Currier, Ben Reider) and the 200 free relay (Reider, Brooks Townsend, Troy Galbreath, Nathan Ryan) and second place in the 400 free relay (M. Currier, Townsend, Havens, J. Currier).
Kemp is not the only Picker boy making waves this year.
Several of the boys, including both Curriers, Girts, Lawry and Thies-Green have achieved “district qualifying consideration” times in several events.
The word “consideration” is an asterisk next to the qualifying times that is a reflection of a scaled-down district event this year. The details of the next round of competition after the regular season are still being worked out, so it’s unclear who will be able to move on.
Other top boys times from the Lancers meet include: J. Currier (second in the 200 IM and 500 free); M. Currier (first in the 50 free and 100 breast); Girts (first in the 500 free, second in the 100 fly); Havens (second in the 100 back, third in the 50 free); Kemp (first in the fly and the 200 IM); Lawry (first in the 100 free); Reider (second in the 200 free); Thies-Green (second in the 100 free and 100 breast).
The girls relay teams took third place in the 200 medley (Rachel Gruber, Lily Bement, Lauren Cass, Chelsea Burch) and the 200 free relay (Cass, Sicily Alcorn, Bement, Burch).
Other top girls scores included: Alcorn (fourth in the 500 free); Bement (third in the 100 free and 100 breast); Bostwick (third in the 500 free); Burch (second in the 100 free, fourth in the 100 back); Cass (third in the 200 IM, fourth in 100 fly), Gruber (fourth in the 200 free and the 50 free).
The Pickers have their final meet of the regular season on Monday, Feb. 22. Time was still TBD, but will be 5 or 6 p.m.
It will be streamed live; a link will be posted on Monday afternoon at www.facebook.com/pickeraquatics.
