North East Little League and their friends in Thorold Canada have been playing baseball together for over 50 years.
Each year, the teams take turn in traveling to each other to play a weekend of baseball.
This year, North East Little League and their families have the opportunity to travel to Canada. Games are played on Saturday, Aug. 3, and Sunday, Aug. 4.
Saturday’s games are played against each other Canada versus U.S., then by Sunday the coaches mix up the kids 1/2 the North East players go to the Canadian team and 1/2 the Canadian kids play on the U.S. team.
The kids have become friends over the years, and really look forward to this weekend.
NELL is hoping to raise money to help offset the cost of travel for the North East Little League families who will be traveling to Canada.
A spaghetti dinner will be held on Sunday, July 28, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the North East American Legion.
All proceeds from the spaghetti dinner will go directly to helping the families.
Cost is $8 and dinner includes spaghetti, meatballs, salad and dessert. Dine in and take out options will be available.
Tickets will be sold at North East American Legion, Sacco’s North East Tire and also Great Lakes Towing. Dinner will be provided by St. Joe’s.
The event will also feature a gifts auction.
