The NE girls golf team continued on its quest during a second mega-match at Green Meadows Golf Course on Sept. 2.
Lydia Swan carded a bogey free round with five birdies to shoot an impressive 31. Teammate and sister Anna Swan and Tara Thomas of Villa each posted scores of 38 finishing tied for second, while North East’s Taylor Urban and Kia Macek of Mercyhurst both shot 43s to round out the top five scoring positions of the day.
But it was Team North East who landed at the top of the leaderboard at the end of the team competition with a cumulative total of 112. Mercyhurst team score of 129 again just edged out Villa’s 130.
“I went out there ready to shoot low and it happened. I really just made a lot of putts,” commented Swan after her stellar round.
Coach Mark Hughes is excited about the possibilities this year.
“Great job by Lydia Swan with the low score of 31 at her home mega match,” Hughes said. “This girls’ team has started off the season with two great wins and I believe this team has the potential to win a state championship.”
