The North East boys golf team traveled down to The Country Club of Meadville to compete against 21 different teams from all over western Pennsylvania.
The NE boys team had just won an important mega-match the day before and were feeling confident going into the competition.
The Union City Bears were also riding in on the momentum they had generated from winning Region 3. The competition was close. Isaiah Swan shot the low round of the day and earned the individual honor, while teammates Ryan Hathaway and Carter Hassenplug shot 81 and 83, respectively.
But Union City’s trio of Josh James, Tyler Parkhurst and Cole DeSimone all shot matching 79s to keep the competition interesting.
When the score cards came in it was deemed a three- way tie between North East, Union City and Grove City as all three teams shot 331.
Based on the score breaker process, Union City was named the victors with Grove City second and North East third.
