Township supervisors approved to pay half of the cost of a new fire training facility for the North East Fire Department, during the Monday, Oct. 4 meeting.
The motion was approved unanimously to pay $121, 486 towards to training facility that will be installed on Sunday, Oct. 10, in Gravel Pit Park.
The total cost of the facility including fencing and other expenses is $242,972.
The money will be coming from the American Rescue Plan account designated to the North East Township.
Minutes from Sept. 20, treasurer’s report and bill for approval were all approved unanimously.
Under new business, trick-or-treating hours were approved to align with the borough and will be on Sunday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Supervisors approved the lien free tax sale petition for attorney Robert Jeffery to act on behalf of the township.
“The request is just that I accept the petition, it is pretty standard but I wanted to approve my signing of that document,” township solicitor Jefferey said. “We have three properties that will be auctioned off if the taxes are not paid or not arranged to be paid.
“Two of the properties are mobile homes and the other one is a house owned by someone who is recently deceased. Hopefully someone buys these properties and rehabs them back to livable conditions.”
The next meeting will be on Monday, Oct. 18, at 9 a.m.
