The North East High School 2019 Homecoming Court was recently announced, and 10 members of the senior class were nominated by their peers.
This year’s Homecoming Queen candidates are Tess Leonard, Brianna King, Julia Sank, Anna Sveda and Frances Schoenfeldt.
The Homecoming King candidates include James Piersol, Jason Seevers, Noah Janes, Anthony Haskins and Max Galbreath.
Tess is the daughter of Eric and Barbara Leonard.
She is a member of the soccer, basketball and track and field teams. Tess is also active in National Honor Society, Student Council and skiing.
Following graduation, Tess plans to attend a four-year college to major in neuroscience.
Her escort is James Piersol.
James is the son of Jim and Elizabeth Piersol.
He is active in baseball, Future Business Leaders of America, Ski Club, Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science and other extracurriculars.
Next year, James plans to attend either Penn State or the University of Notre Dame to major in business.
Brianna is the daughter of Lisa Kramer.
She plays volleyball and basketball and is active in theater, National Honor Society and FBLA, among other activities.
Brianna plans to study music at Thiel College, where she will play volleyball.
She will be escorted by Jason Seevers.
Jason is the son of Jeffrey Seevers and Leann Parmenter.
He is a member of the cross-county, soccer and track and field teams. Jason is also a member of FBLA.
Upon graduating, Jason plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh to study business and finance.
Julia is the daughter of Paul and Rebecca Sank.
She is the co-treasurer of the senior class and the president of AFS. Julia is also active in PJAS, NHS and diving, among other extracurriculars.
Julia’s plan for after graduation is to attend Penn State and major in biomedical engineering.
Her escort is Noah Janes.
Noah is the son of Calvin and Erin Janes.
His extracurricular activities include Science Olympiads, PJAS, NHS, the reading team and others.
Following graduation, Noah intends to further his education at Penn State, where he’ll study biology.
Anna is the daughter of John Sveda and Sandra Wilson.
She is on the swimming and track and field teams, and a member of the marching band.
After graduating, Anna plans to enlist in the National Guard and later pursue a career in forensic science.
She will be escorted by Anthony Haskins.
Anthony is the son of Mark Haskins and Lynn Eisert-Haskins.
He is a member of the cross-country and track and field teams. Anthony is also active in Science Olympiads, PJAS, Envirothon, NHS and he is a student ambassador.
Anthony plans to attend Temple University next fall, and aspires to earn his doctorate in chemistry.
Frances is the daughter of Tim and Mari Schoenfeldt.
She is a member of the volleyball and swim teams and also active in PJAS and NHS, among other activities.
Her plans for after graduation include attending the United States Coast Guard Academy and studying to be a civil engineer.
Her escort will be Max Galbreath.
Max is the son of James and Carrie Galbreath.
He is active in theater productions, Vineyard Vocalists, student council and soccer.
Upon graduating, Max plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford or enter the military.
The 2019 Homecoming King and Queen will be announced during halftime of the football game between North East and Fairview on Sept 20. The game begins at 7 p.m.
The annual homecoming dance will follow on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the North East High School gymnasium from 7 to 10:30 p.m.
