The North East Athletic Hall of Fame committee is considering holding an induction banquet in late September. At this point, the banquet site, Harborcreek Social Hall, has been reserved for Sept. 25 to coincide with Wine Fest weekend.
The class of 2021 inductees have been selected and will soon be announced, along with ticket in-formation for the event.
The date is subject to change due to COVID-19.
The HOF committee will provide free advertising space in the banquet program for any business that has purchased program advertising space for prior banquets.
North East School District officials have expressed concern regarding the lack of wall space to dis-play future inductees’ motivational plaques.
To remedy that, the HOF reached out to previous inductees, and more than $7,000 was raised to purchase a large screen kiosk to display the plaque information, install the kiosk and purchase a maintenance agreement. The organization is not intending to use any taxpayer money and expects to install the kiosk sometime this fall.
The purpose of the HOF is to give North East student-athletes access to the narratives of the many accomplishments of the school’s greatest athletes to hopefully motivate those students to seek greater heights for their athletic goals.
The kiosk will be placed in the high school gym hallway for students and visitors to read and will be accessible over the internet.
