It’s a throwback to the Jazz Age as students at North East High School will perform “The Drowsy Chaperone” this weekend.
The musical within a comedy opened on May 2 and continues with performances today and Saturday, May 4. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. each day and the show begins at 7 p.m.
The show will take place at the North East High School auditorium.
“The Drowsy Chaperone” is a parody of a 1920s musical and offers one song and dance after another.
The musical features a starlet who leaves the stage for love, a Latin lothario, gangsters posing as pastry chefs and a multitude of other misfits.
About 40 students in grades eight through 12 are in the production both onstage and backstage.
The main cast is as follows:

• Superintendent: Eric Garfield
The ensemble cast includes Dominic Turiczek, Simon Triana, Isaac Rutter, Kylie Roggie, Maya Post, Ashleigh Lutz, Alison Bahm, Abby Frazzinni and Olivia Davis.
The stage crew includes Olivia Burek, Josiah Klecan, Frances Schoenfeldt, Paige Grice, Liz Schwartz and Cass Diorazio.
Students on the sound crew are Skyler Thies-Green, Owen Pineo, Payton Hopkins and Alexander Fisher. The light crew includes Brooks Townsend, Damien Trusty, Jayden Weatherly and Bella Coletta.
“The Drowsy Chaperone” is under the direction of Ryan Ingram.
Tara Hart-Lewis is the musical’s vocal director, while Stephan DeGrosky is the music director.
Stage managers include Carly Maas and Sydne Pollifrone.
The show’s choreographers include Jessica Stetson, Kristen Righi and Kristin Fry.
The sound and light director is Cindy Carlson.
Cost to attend the show is $7 for adults and $5 for students. All proceeds will benefit the drama club for future productions.
There will also be a bake sale and 50/50 raffle.
