North East in Bloom (NEIB) has chosen the Concord Drive garden of Julie and E. J. Buchanan as the July Garden of the Month.
When driving by, community members will enjoy seeing their yard, flower gardens and the special seasonal touches that they add year-round. The Buchanans’ front gardens are loaded with yellow and orange marigolds (so they also look good with the upcoming fall decorations that will be added), portulacas, ferns, geraniums, impatiens, dahlias, a white tree hydrangea and hanging super petunia baskets.
At dusk, the beautiful gardens have different types of lighting throughout giving it a completely new look.
North East in Bloom is a nonprofit organization formed to promote and encourage gardening, landscaping, green practices, community gateway entrances and other aesthetically pleasing enhancements throughout the community of NE.
The group chooses a Garden of the Month from spring to fall and nominate many gardens as “Bloomed.” Check out the NEIB Facebook page to see the photos of the gardens that have bloomed so far this year.
Because the blooming ladies can’t be everywhere, if you know of a garden or feel your garden is “noteworthy” and live in the NE Borough of Township, please send us a photo and address to info@northeastinbloom.org to be reviewed.
Anyone interested in gardening, at any scale, is invited to join NEIB the second Monday of each month at 6:30 p.m. For more information call 725-3938.
