The Aug. 1 performance of the 2019 Entertainment in the Park Summer Performance Series will feature the Chautauqua County band Kokomo Time.
Held Thursday evening, this performance will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and be held at a new location this year, the floating stage located behind the Mayville Depot, across from the Lakeview Hotel, in Mayville, N.Y., courtesy of the Chautauqua Lake Pops.
The band was organized in 2000 by band leader Jim Steffan. Throughout the years, they have entertained at many venues and for many concert series and events. This talented band has been performing at the concert series for many years, featuring their “Trop Rock” sound and including music from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, along with calypso, Zydeco, tex-mex and beach party music.
Complementing their musical style, they wear iconic Hawaiian or striped shirts while performing. Members of the band are Jim Steffan on drums and vocals; Spencer Drake on guitar and vocals; and Jeff McCheskey on keyboards and vocals.
The band also features occasional special guests: Russ Faraci on percussion, bass, and vocals; and Warren Sischo on bass, keyboards, guitar, and vocals.
Rainbow the Clown (Jerry Stimson) will also be on hand to entertain the children with creative balloon sculptures and face painting.
These performances are brought to you at no charge through the sponsorship by the Village of Mayville and Town of Chautauqua. In case of inclement weather, the performance will take place at the Carlson Community Center, located at Lakeside Park in Mayville.
While seating will be available for inside or outside concerts, those attending are still encouraged to bring their own seating for all performances (in or out) to make sure there’s enough seating for everyone.
A 50/50 raffle will be held at the performances again this summer benefiting the chamber and its work in the community. The Mayville Fire Department will be offering popcorn and water on a donation basis for the benefit of their fire department. There will also be BBQ cooked dinners (hamburgers, hot dogs, etc.) served this summer at the concerts by the Maple Springs Fire Department, for the benefit of their fire department.
