It has been warm weather and smiles for Sunny Shores Tanning & Treasures owners Kristin and Mat Smithers as they celebrate the one-year anniversary since taking over the tanning salon.
Community members recently enjoyed a week of free tanning and for the month of February, members can participate in the $50 to $150 product giveaway with a club sign-up, package or certain lotion purchase.
Sunny Shores also lowered the auto-pay prices about $15 for each level and raised the perks associated with each level so they can offer the best deal available while being competitively priced.
“I managed the salon for two and a half years when it was Sunkissed and it quickly became clear I had a huge passion for helping people tan safely,” Kristen Smithers said. “There is something special about being part of a person’s relax time, and when we were approached about taking over the tanning salon, I knew I had to figure out a way to make it happen.”
Sunny Shores Tanning & Treasures is a family owned business that continues to create its own sunshine.
“Being family owned you may see our kiddos eagerly waiting on customers or volunteering to sweep when our team members need a hand,” Smithers said. “My husband Mat has become the official remodeler and fixer for us while I run the day to day operations.”
Sunny Shores has a new zero gravity massage chair with red light therapy; a Versa Pro sunless spray booth; a nine-minute high powered stand up booth; two, 120minute bronzing beds; three, 12-minute medium level beds; five, 20-minute base beds; and 800 square feet of bath, body and beach gear.
“We offer so much more than a stop in a sunbed,” Smithers said. “Our one manager, Taryn Hollarn, has plans of being a holistic doctor and the other manager, Caitlin Quigley, plans on being a medical esthetician. We have a strong passion for helping people and are customer obsessed.”
All employees are Smart Tan Certified and attend expos and learning seminars to continue their education to properly ensure the safety and satisfaction of each customer.
“Coming to a locally owned place, you are part of our family and we want it to be the best part of your day,” Smithers said. “We also have color promises for our UV and spray services, we keep our lamps fresh and that is our guarantee.”
With a successful year of business under its belt, Sunny Shores will be expanding and remodeling during its next year of business.
“We plan on adding new units and expanding the spa side of our salon,” Smithers said. “We are constantly adding little touches here and there and are checking off a long to do list. But we expect to be redoing the floors and giving the walls a pick me up. We were excited to just relamp last year and get a front door and we are growing so much more than that.”
