St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Parish, will host a Lenten Mission to be held at St. Gregory Church, 48 S. Pearl St., entitled “Finding Hope, Bringing Hope, Being Hope,” on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, March 25, 26 and 27. The presenters for the mission are Franciscan Capuchin friars, Father William Cieslak and Father Tom Nguyen.
Father Bill Cieslak has been a Capuchin for 47 years and a priest for 38 years. He spent the first 25 years of ministry teaching liturgy and sacraments at the Franciscan School of Theology, Berkeley, California, and the Graduate Theological Union. The past six years he served as provincial director of Development for the Capuchin Province of St. Joseph, and in July, 2011, became director of the Office of Preaching and Evangelization. Fr. Bill preaches and teaches at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale, Arizona. He would characterize his presentations as Scripture-based, passionate and motivational, from a Franciscan theological and spiritual perspective.
Fr. Tom Nguyen resides and ministers at the Solanus Casey Center in Detroit. Fr. Tom brings his invigorating energy and enthusiasm into his preaching. He utilizes the human experience to look at how God’s grace is all around us. His message of joy and hope is grounded in the Franciscan perspective.
The schedule is as follows: Sunday, March 24 — Tap Into Life with Fr. Tom This part of the mission will be conducted by Fr. Tom Nguyen at the Presque Isle Wine Cellars for young adults ages 21 through 35.
It will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, March 25 — The mission begins at 6:30 p.m. and concludes at 7:30 p.m. with a Soup and Bread Supper preceding the mission at 5:30 p.m. in the Parish Family Room (lower level of the church). Attend one or both. Tuesday, March 26 — Reconciliation Service with the Mission Talk at 6:30 p.m. and concludes at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 27 — The mission closes with Mass at 6:30 p.m. Hospitality will follow in the Parish Family Room. Child care will be available and all are welcome.
