Project: 89 started in the spring of 2020 in response to the community’s desire to create an attractive entrance to town through Route 89. This entrance is one of the main entries into the community, welcoming residents and visitors alike year-round to North East and the various events such as Cherry Fest, Winefest, Sugar Plum Weekend and much more.
It was deemed necessary to give the area a visual facelift.
The first phase of the mural will take place throughout this winter, with the painting of panels that will be assembled into a collective mural on the west wall of the underpass.
The design includes wildlife and the natural beauty of the vineyards and green spaces by artist Ehren Knapp.
In order to continue with the momentum of this project donations are greatly appreciated.
Individuals and businesses are welcome to sponsor a panel to assist with the progress of the mural.
Panels will be 6 feet by 2 1/2 feet in full color. Sponsors of panels will receive a limited edition T-shirt and the business/family name will be highlighted on the north end of the mural wall.
Sponsors of two or more panels will receive a signed framed print of the mural artwork in addition to a T-shirt and name on the north end of the mural.
This opportunity is limited as there are only 618 panels available.
