A fledgling church is inviting the community to come and join its congregation.
On Nov. 4, 2018, Soul Seeking Community Church, 7895 Buffalo Road, Harborcreek, was started by Pastor Mark Shettler and about 10 members of the local community.
“We welcome everyone,” Shettler said. “We’d like to invite anyone and everyone to come and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
The church is currently located inside Kerri’s Dance Studio, and holds services on Wednesdays at 7 p.m., and Sundays at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
“We also have a great Bible study group that meets Wednesday afternoons at
noon,” Shettler said. “Those who attend should bring a bagged lunch.”
Shettler has been a pastor for nine years, and said he was inspired by his father.
“My dad was a pastor and I’ve always wanted to be able to talk about Christ and preach his good news and salvation,” he said. “I am not here to preach what people want to hear.
I am here to preach what people need to hear.” Shettler added that it was a piece of advice he overheard that led him to become a pastor and eventually start Soul Seeking Community Church. “The Holy Spirit touched me one day and said ‘We need you to help us out,’” he said. “And then, one day I heard a man tell someone ‘you can be a jack of all trades and a master of none.’ That got me thinking so I decided to do something about it!
Instead of being in a lot of different things, I decided to just focus on one thing and this is where the Lord led me.” Shettler said he and the church’s congregation invite anyone looking for a church to call home to attend a service and get to know what Soul Seeking Community Church is all about. “Anyone can just stop by during a service, or they can call me at 814-882-0464,” he said. “The Bible is the guideline on how we are to be living,” he added. “The bottom line is it doesn’t matter what you believe or what I believe; what matters is the truth and that’s found in the Bible.”
