Westfield, N.Y. — The Lake Erie Wine Country Trail will be celebrating its 17th year in 2019. This association of wineries is located along the shores of Lake Erie in western New York and Pennsylvania amid 30,000 scenic acres of juice and wine grape vineyards.
It has grown from six New York wineries in 2002 to 23 wineries.
Today, Lake Erie Wine Country’s events and those of its member wineries attract thousands of customers and tourists to the area. The association is increasingly seen as an important driver of economic development in the region.
The association recently held a re-launch celebration on Oct. 11 at the Grape Discovery Center.
“Harvest is a busy season in wine country – and this fall includes work on a new image for LEWC,” said Monica Mazur, LEWC’s executive director. “The goal of the updated brand is to highlight and feature the strengths of the region as a premier tourism destination.”
All 23 wineries were at the celebration with samples of their wines.
Mazur also unveiled the new branding featured on an upcoming website and on promotional materials.
LEWC has over 60 “tourism partners” – which include local businesses such as hotels, restaurants and limousine services. They also include regional attractions such as Chautauqua Institution and Panama Rocks.
New this fall, The National Comedy Center has become LEWC’s “Premier Tourism Partner.”
All of these elements, combined with the region’s beauty, create a premier tourism destination.
