With the onset of cooler weather, many families, elderly folks, homeless people and shut-ins are in need of warm socks. Socks are the most needed and least donated item of clothing.
The Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation has initiated “SOCKTOBER,” a sock drive to assist those in need. New socks of all sizes, colors, patterns and varieties are needed and will benefit community members from the very young to the elderly.
The Grape Discovery Center in Westfield is partnering with the NCCF as a collection site for the sock drive.
Donations will be accepted at the center, located at 8305 Main St. in Westfield, through Oct. 30.
Once the drive has ended, the socks will be delivered to the NCCF for distribution to a number of local organizations.
The center is open every Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m.
Please help make SOCKTOBER a huge success by donating pairs of new socks.
