Hudson Heberlein, of Boy Scout Troop 57 in North East, was awarded his Eagle Scout rank on Feb. 10, 2020.
Heberlein earned this award by building a walking bridge at Headwaters Park, located at 1927 Wager Road, Erie, Pa.
Heberlein led the project from planning to execution, including fundraising, ordering supplies and gathering volunteers to assist in the build.
The bridge was built over two weekends in October 2019.
Many of his fellow scouts and family members helped.
His family and friends recently celebrated this accomplishment at his Court of Honor on Aug. 18.
His Scout leader, John Hallenburg, guided him through the process and helped Heberlein get in contact with Tom McClure, district manager of the Erie County Conservation District, who assisted Heberlein in creating a sustainable bridge.
