Due to COVID-19 this year, the ACS has moved the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer fundraiser walks to six surrounding area parks from Oct. 17-30.
Since North East is a supportive community and known for turning the town “PINK” every October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Gibson Park has been selected as one of the parks. Throughout the park there will be signage, sponsor signs and PINK Pinwheels spinning in the Tribute Garden.
The “In Honor Of/In Memory Of” pin wheel s are available with a $10 donation at The Flower Cart or by going to the Powerful Pink Warriors or the ACS site.
Names of loved ones with be placed on the back of the pinwheel.
Anyone can individually walk or be with a team around the park and raise money and awareness for breast cancer. Four laps around the park equates to about one mile.
On the signs will be a QR Code so any smart phone can sign up for prizes and register individually or with a team.
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join the local Powerful Pink Warriors’ team.
